THE HORSEA MARINA MURDERS is number 3 in the Detective Inspector Andy Horton Solent Murder Mystery crime series, published by Joffe Books. It's December and DI Andy Horton has a body on a burning boat in Horsea Marina, Portsmouth.
Horsea Marina is really Port Solent Marina, just outside the city of Portsmouth on the south coast of England. When researching for this novel I asked the marina if I could use the real location, unfortunately they weren't happy for me to do so - not everyone wants a body on their premises - I therefore changed the name. You can see where this marina is based by clicking on my Google map of the locations of all my DI Andy Horton crime novels.
It's a foggy December night and Detective Inspector Andy Horton and Detective Sergeant Cantelli are called to the site of a burning boat on Horsea Marina. There, they find a charred body onboard.
The autopsy reveals startling evidence of foul play. The victim was Tom Brundall, a wealthy financier from Guernsey. And Tom had terminal cancer. What made him sail back to his hometown of Portsmouth? And who would kill a dying man?
Horton is determined to find out.
But then another body is found and Horton is forced to confront the past. Not just the victim’s, but the mystery surrounding his own mother’s disappearance over thirty years ago.
As the pieces of the puzzle begin to unravel, it becomes clear that Horton is up against a deadly adversary who will stop at nothing to prevent the truth from coming out.
Can Horton catch a killer and find out what happened to his mother all those years ago?
This novel introduces some startling facts about Horton's mother, Jennifer, who disappeared over thirty yeras ago leaving Horton to the mercies of social services. He doesn't know who his father is. In the subsequent DI Andy Horton Solent Murder Mysteries he embarks upon the quest to get to the truth of what happened to her and finally discovers this with shocking consequences.

"I had to read it right away, it's a terrific book -- I'm really impressed with the way you make characters so complex and endearingly human (no matter how evil) ... in often just a few sentences. And Andy gets more intriguing all the time!" Catherine
"Great protagonist and lots of odd turns and fantastic ending." Terry G.
Well structured with attention to detail, but above all the interaction between the key protagonists is so real it's amazing. More books like this please as it's a pleasure to read them and sad when you reach the end!" Amazon
