FATAL DEPTHS, Art Marvik mystery thriller (4)

Fatal Depths, an Art Marvik mystery thrille by Pauline RowsonWednesday 4 May and Art Marvik is on a quest to discover the truth behind his parents’ deaths in an underwater explosion in the Straits of Malacca in 1997. The stakes are high. Will he live to expose a shocking revelation and bring his parents killer to justice?

No one knows why Professor Dan Coulter, an oceanographer, and Dr Eeirka Marvik, a marine archaeologist, were diving in the Straits of Malacca when tragedy struck.  For over twenty years Marvik has done his best to put aside thoughts of his parents’ deaths which left him at the age of seventeen in the brief care of a guardian before enlisting in the Royal Marines.

His career as a Commando and a Special Boat Services officer gave no room for sentimentality or reminiscences.  He believed what he had been told, their deaths were an accident.  Then a young marine archaeologist, Sarah Redburn, is murdered and Marvik’s boss, Chief Superintendent Crowder of the National Intelligence Marine Squad, claims her death is connected with Marvik’s parents.  Marvik can’t see how that could be possible but when he discovers a notebook and computer disk in Sarah’s belongings with the name of his parents’ last research vessel written on it in his father’s hand, which is subsequently stolen from his safe deposit box, he has no option but to believe Crowder.

With the help of his former Marine colleague, Shaun Strathen, an intelligence officer and computer expert, Marvik embarks on a journey that could very well be his last. His quest for the truth takes him on a dangerous and deadly trail of abduction and murder. It soon becomes clear that the computer disk holds the key to a shocking secret that a ruthless killer is determined must never be revealed.

The South Binness Murders DI Andy Horton Solent Murder Mystery by Pauline RowsonSunday 9 May and Inspector Horton has blood on an abandoned boat and a missing boat owner in THE SOUTH BINNESS MURDERS.

DI Andy Horton arrives back in Southsea marina from France on his small yacht to find the police marine unit present having brought in an abandoned boat with what looks to be human blood on board. Is the missing boat owner dead or critically injured lying on a nearby shore? Is his body on one of the uninhabited small nature reserve islands in Langstone Harbour where the boat was found? Or has he absconded having killed someone on board?

Before Horton has confirmation that the blood is human, he’s called out the following day to investigate an unusual art robbery in a Portsmouth gallery.

Juggling both cases, which become more perplexing and disturbing with each step, Horton, aided by Sergeant Cantelli and DC Walters, is required to call upon all his instincts and his deep knowledge of humanity to help solve two cases where greed, guilt, snobbery and envy have reaped such disastrous consequences.
